Before you even apply for a job at an agency, don’t focus on the functional task. It’s not just doing advertising, or PR or graphic design. It’s about communicating. It’s about building brands. Once you understand the very nature of the business you’re applying for, then you’ll understand the motivation for hiring you. Agencies want people who understands the brand building process – from whatever functional angle you have.

So, if agencies are about building brands, how can you, a potential candidate demonstrate that? You start by showing how you build brand “YOU”.

Agencies are communicators. So, if you’re interested in becoming part of the family, we’ll be looking out for qualities that will make you jump out from the crowd. Consider this a marketing campaign and the brand is YOU. Prepare a resume, cover letter, recent photograph or anything that you think will make you stand out in the crowd. That is your first real test and those who succeed here is on its way to surviving the agency life.
